Fremantle Cockburn have continued to show strong form, notching their third win in a row with a 5-3 victory over WASPS at Lakelands Hockey & Sporting Facility.
The Magpies hosted WASPS during round two of the Stiles Electrical Premier League in warm conditions on Sunday.
The opening quarter saw both sides throw everything at each other in a bid to get on the scoreboard early.
Despite WASPS earning opportunities through three penalty corner attempts, the Magpies' defence could not be breached, leaving the score at 0-0 at quarter time.
It would not be until the 25th minute when a goal would be scored, with Trent Mitton showcasing his experience and slotting in a field goal on the move to put the WASPS in front.
The contest reached a new level of excitement late in the term with Jack Scott scoring a field goal of his own to level the scores at 1-1 by half time.

Despite protests from WASPS about whether there was a breach in the circle, the goal was not overturned.
WASPS would eventually respond with a field goal via Connar Otterbach, which sparked similar protests from the Magpies but was ultimately awarded.
With the WASPS still down by a goal, they opted to throw everything but the kitchen sink at the Magpies, taking goalkeeper Ollie Higgins off, though he quickly returned to the field as Fremantle Cockburn earned a penalty corner shot.
After Matt Bird scored to extend the Magpies' lead, WASPS took their keeper off once again in a bid to make a late comeback.
