2021 Australian National Under-15s Championships Preview

The various national hockey championships are back in 2021 starting with the Australian National Under 15 Championships in Bathurst.

After COVID forced the cancellation of all national championships in 2020, Hockey Australia is thrilled to have them back on the calendar.

The week long National Under 15 Championships begin on 9 April and end with the medal matches to be decided on 15 April.

Victoria goes into this year’s championships as the defending gold medallists in the Under 15 Girls, while WA Gold are the reigning Boys champions.

Ahead of the 2021 edition, the following are some points of interest regarding the various teams selected:

• Ryde Hunters Hill Hockey Club has produced six boys and one girl among the players selected for the New South Wales state teams.
• Newmarket's Commercial Hockey Club in Brisbane has produced seven athletes (Amy Chiu Chong, Karissa van der Wath, Shanelle James, Montana Carr, Trinity Woodward, Sophia Papantoniou and Ellie Kendall) for the state's two Under 15 girls National Championship teams.

This year’s National Under 15 Championships are made possible thanks to Destination NSW and Bathurst Regional Council.

Anyone attending the championships is asked to follow the COVID Safety Guidelines for spectators:

• Arrive just before the game you want to watch
• Refrain from moving between pitches where possible
• Leave ASAP after games
• Do not interact with the teams at the venue
• Follow all Public Health Guidelines
