All Flags Premier League Insider I Issue #3

Published Fri 16 Apr 2021

The weekend of the 16th – 18th April sees the commencement of the Women’s All Flags Premier League, which has been eagerly awaited by many since the Men kicked off a few weeks ago. As happened with the Men, the first fixtures of the Women’s competition sees a Grand Final rematch between Hale and Victoria Park Xavier that should be a riveting encounter. Victoria Park Xavier will be looking to cement their 2020 crown with a win in Round 1, whilst Hale will be eager to make amends for the 2020 result, and will feature new recruit Sophie Johnston in a bid to make this a reality.

Other players that have sought new horizons that will be eager to make an impact this weekend will be North Coast Raiders’ Jade Vanderzwan, University of WA’s Danielle Bestall, and Maddison Naylor-Pratt and Madi Ratcliffe both lining up for Westside Wolves in 2021.

A number of coaches will take the reins for their first official match for their new clubs this weekend, with Jayde Taylor at Westside Wolves, Janine Keating at Wesley South Perth, Jeremy Davy at University of WA and Lee Capes with Curtin University. All will no doubt be seeking a positive start from their players to set themselves up for their 2021 campaign.

Hockey Australia have indicated that all fit athletes will be available for their clubs this weekend, which should enhance the quality on offer from all matches.
