The CBH Group Men’s Country Championships has kicked off at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University, with the regions of Western Australia flocking to Perth to represent their parts of the state on the big stage.
The Men’s Division One competition is shaping to be a close race for pole position, with Eastern Goldfields and Upper Great Southern in equal first position, with the two powerhouses reaching a 1-1 deadlock when the sides faced each other.
The larger Division Two cohort sees four sides in equal second place with Geraldton 2 claiming the top spot after two convincing results of 2-1 and 1-0 against Eastern Districts and Eastern Goldfields 2 respectively.
Avon sits at the bottom of Division Two standings, searching for their first win of the tournament after 0-1 and 1-3 losses to Upper Great Southern 2 and Central Great Southern.
In Division Three, the Pilbara Krocs sit pretty in first place after playing three of their matches already and claiming two wins and a draw thus far.
Busselton looks to be the powerhouse of the division, with their two matches against Esperance and Roe Districts resulting in 6-1 and 9-2 drubbings, with the side sitting in second with a game in hand.
