Published Mon 20 Jun 2022
The CBH Group Women’s Country Championships reached a thrilling climax for 2022, with Bunbury crowned Division One champions in a bumper final day across Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University and Fletcher Park in Victoria Park.
Bunbury faced Lower Great Southern, the 2021 champions, in the Division One Final, claiming a 2-1 victory in a hot contest. Bunbury finished the pool matches at the top of the standings and completed an unbeaten competition run, winning three out of the four matches and one draw to Upper Great Southern, finishing with a goal difference of six. In Division Two, it was Roe Districts who claimed the bragging rights after defeating Central Great Southern 1-0 in a thrilling finish. The Pilbara Krocs made the long journey to Perth memorable by claiming a 2-0 victory over Collie in the Division Three Grand Final. A stacked Division Four featuring eight teams resulted in Avon claiming the title in a 2-0 win over Busselton. Lower Great Southern may have lost the Division One Grand Final but still went home with a win in Division Five, defeating Ongerup 1-0 in a close finish.
