CEO Update I October
Published Wed 29 Sep 2021
What a month September proved to be!
With the Annual Awards Dinner at the Pan Pacific Hotel, Hockey WA’s Grand Finals Day at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University and the culmination of competitions around the state, it proved to be a jam-packed month. The Grand Final Day, supported by Brightside Live, was particularly well received with the addition of a big screen, MC, music and high-quality sports presentation… and thousands in attendance. You can watch the replays of the All Flags Premier League Grand Final matches via our Facebook page here and here. Thanks to everyone for your support.
October also looks set to be another big month of hockey action. The introduction of the Kobie McGurk and Bevan George Cups for Masters competitors aged 35-50, in the style of the Ric Charlesworth Classic, looks set to engage a wonderful group of high-level competitors from 22-31 October. So too will our Perth Thundersticks October Holiday Camps for juniors, from 4-6 October.
This month was also due to feature the commencement of the Sultana Bran Hockey One League but, unfortunately, this has been postponed due to the COVID-19 impacts across the country. We are excited about staging the second instalment of the open-age national men’s and women’s competitions in early 2022 – stay tuned for more details.
Off the pitch, Hockey WA staff are busy planning for an even bigger year in 2022. Our website, in particular, is one area of focus – with the aim to improve the user experience for our membership. As part of the review process, a range of clubs from metropolitan and regional areas have been asked to provide feedback – commentary, we hope, will continue to evolve and improve our key digital platform. Additional feedback is always welcomed – please email your comments, thoughts and feedback to media@hockeywa.org.au.
Until next month, stay safe and enjoy our offerings.
Catch you at the hockey,
Fabian
