CSBP Bringing hockey to regional schools
Published Wed 16 Jun 2021
Hockey WA and CSBP Fertilisers have partnered to deliver the Upper Great Southern Hockey Association's (UGSHA) regional schools program in 2021.
Spanning a large part of southern Western Australia, the program aims to visit 39 primary schools to showcase hockey to students between years 1 and 6.
Fabian Ross, Hockey WA CEO, said that the partnership presents huge benefits for the community – with CSBP's support taking hockey directly to Wheatbelt primary schools, allowing approximately 2,700 students from a variety of backgrounds and cultures to experience the sport of hockey for the first time.
“We’re very excited and thankful for CSBP Fertilisers’ support,” Ross said. “It’s wonderful that, through this partnership, Hockey WA and CSBP can take our sport to the Wheatbelt’s primary schools.”
Rodney Johnson, Development Officer, Upper Great Southern Hockey Association: “We’re really excited for the program and look forward to engaging with schools and school children across the year.”
"Contributing positively to the regional communities in which we operate is important to CSBP Fertilisers. We are therefore very pleased to support Hockey WA and UGSHA in offering students a fun and engaging hockey experience via the regional schools program. Hockey is an inclusive sport played by men and women and boys and girls of all ages, and these sessions teach participants the basic concepts of hockey and develop key motor skills all within a fun and safe team-based environment," said Narrogin-based Matt Tropiano, CSBP Fertilisers' District Manager.
