CSBP Carnivals takes a festival of hockey to regional WA

Published Fri 13 Aug 2021

Wheatbelt students in grades four to six are preparing for the experience of a lifetime when the CSBP Wheatbelt Schools Carnivals are run from August 17 and 24.

The Carnivals, to be played in Narrogin, Bruce Rock, Merredin and Northam, follow clinics from around the area as part of the CSBP Wheatbelt Schools Roadshow, where high-calibre coaches travelled from Perth to the country to develop young players and encourage hockey participation across Western Australia.

CSBP Community Engagement Coordinator, Sarah Jasper, says that CSBP is thrilled to support hockey and the next generation of athletes across regional WA.

"We’re delighted to have been able to support the Wheatbelt Roadshow and Carnivals, and to help give children the opportunity to learn and engage with hockey," Jasper says.

"Hockey is a much-loved sport by people of all ages in WA. We’re excited that these carnivals will give students the opportunity to come together and test their hockey skills in a fun, engaging and sociable environment.”

Entry into the seven-a-side CSBP Carnival is be free for participating school sides and will see teams play matches across the day. For some, the 2021 CSBP Wheatbelt Schools Carnivals will represent the beginning of their hockey journey - and the start of a life-long passion.

“It is fantastic to have opportunities like the CSBP Wheatbelt Schools Roadshow and Carnivals for our young regional athletes,” Hockey WA CEO Fabian Ross says.

“The fun and competition is invaluable to the development of junior athletes and we're incredibly thankful for CSBP's support.”
