What is the Ric Charlesworth Classic?
The Ric Charlesworth Classic, which was first held across October and November last year, acts as a key selection tool for men’s and women’s Perth Thundersticks sides and provides high-level preparation leading into Hockey WA’s 2021 Premier League season.
The Ric Charlesworth Classic provides hockey fans a feast of high-quality action across a nine-day period!
What days are game days across the Ric Charlesworth Classic?
The Ric Charlesworth Classic action starts on Friday 5 March and continues right through to the battle for gold medals, on Sunday 14 March. The fixture details are as follows:

Where is the Ric Charlesworth Classic being held?
The Ric Charlesworth Classic is held at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University.
Is there an entry fee to the Ric Charlesworth Classic?
Entry into the first four days of the 2021 Ric Charlesworth Classic (across Friday 5 March, Monday 8 March, Wednesday 10 March and Thursday 11 March) is by gold-coin donation, with all funds going directly to Telethon.
Entry into each of the final two days of competition, Saturday 13 March and Sunday 14 March, is $10 for adults with kids under 18 free. Fifty per cent (50%) of net proceeds from weekend gate-takings will be provided directly to Hockey WA Clubs, with attendees to nominate their chosen club of choice on entry. Attendees simply pay their entry free and nominate their club – it’s that easy.
Kids under 18 are free every day of the Ric Charlesworth Classic.
What times do gates open?
Gates open one hour before the first match on each event day.
Is there entertainment at the Ric Charlesworth Classic?
The 2021 Ric Charlesworth Classic provides entertainment for young, old and everyone in between! In addition to some amazing on-field action, the off-field action in 2021 is fan-focused, with an emcee, music and other attractions ensuring a fun day or night out for all involved!
On the final weekend of the Ric Charlesworth Classic, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 March, children under 18 are provided with a two-day Hockey for Health Carnival, which provides kids a range of fun activities and activations. As part of the action, kids will have the opportunity to go one-on-one with legendary hockey stars - current Australian and Perth Thundersticks representatives Aleisha Power, Tyler Lovell, Georgia Wilson and Trent Mitton plus the man himself Ric Charlesworth.
