Finale sees Lower Great Southern claim battle of the south

The CBH Group Women’s Country Championships for 2021 has concluded in thrilling fashion at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University, with a finals day for the ages seeing some extremely tight finishes.

Lower Great Southern claimed the Division 1 title after sitting in the pole position for the majority of the tournament.

The grand final match-up against Upper Great Southern returned an electrifying Division 1 finale, with Lower Great Southern running away with the victory in a tight 2-1 finish.

The Division 2 went to Bunbury, who defeated division leaders Roe Districts 1(4)-1(1) on a nail-biting shoot-out finish to please the fans who flocked to Perth Hockey Stadium in support of their regions.

Collie ran away with the grand final win in the stacked, eight-team Division 3, after a 2-1 win over CMCHA, with both sides sitting in one and two on the standings respectively heading in to the finals series.

Upper Great Southern’s second side won the Division 4 title in a 2-0 finish over Mortlock, returning silverware to the region stacked with a plethora of sides in both the men’s and women’s CBH Group Country Championships.

The CMCHA 2 against Donnybrook Division 5 grand final returned another thrilling finish, with a shoout-out resulting in CMCHA 2 winning 0(4)-0(2).

Upper Great Southern again managed to go home with another title, winning the Masters Division 1 grand final in a strong 2-0 win over Mortlock.

The Masters Division 2 saw Lower Great Southern claim their second title in this year’s tournament, with a close 1-0 victory over Esperance seeing the side snatch the win.
