Hockey WA’s Graham Reid to lead Delhi’s SG Pipers in Hockey India League
Published Fri 04 Oct 2024
Australian hockey legend Graham ‘Poss’ Reid has been announced as the head coach of newly launched Hockey India League franchise, the SG Pipers.
The appointment marks an exciting moment for WA hockey, as Reid currently serves as Hockey WA’s General Manager of Asian Engagement, strengthening WA’s relationship with our neighbouring Asian countries.
Reid’s connection with Indian hockey will be reignited after breaking the Indian men’s national team’s 41-year Olympic medal drought at the Tokyo Games in 2021 as head coach for the side.
The launch of the SG Pipers also coincides with a new era for Indian hockey, with the Hockey India League making an eagerly awaited comeback after its last season in 2017, with Reid leading a star-studded line up of coaches.
Reid will take on the role from December 2024 to February 2025.
From the wider WA hockey community, we wish Poss the best of luck with his appointment and will be cheering on the SG Pipers from afar.
