Published Thu 15 Sep 2022

Healthy competition, fun and games will be the order of the day at the 2022 Hockey WA Grand Final Day, presented by Brightside Live, and supported by Healthway promoting the Fuel to Go & Play® message.

Education and entertainment, as well as some delicious free fruit offerings, will be in good supply on Saturday 17 September at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University, with Healthway’s support activating and engaging the young and young at heart.

Located on the alcohol-free southern end of Perth Hockey Stadium ( PHS), the Fuel to Go & Play® Activation Fun Zone, commencing from 3pm, will provide all and sundry some light-hearted, engaging and informative opportunities. Snakes and ladders and Twister will surely entertain, as will the opportunity for participants to walk away with plant-your-own vegetable seeds in addition to complimentary apples, strawberries and bananas.

The healthy competition isn’t the only green item on the agenda at Hockey WA’s Grand Final Day. Muesli and yoghurt cups, fruit salad, sandwiches, and fresh fruit will all feature on an evolving menu at the PHS canteen. Additionally, carrot sticks and celery with hummus will be provided free to children under 15.

“We are excited about the upcoming Hockey WA Grand Final Day and, through Healthway, continuing to educate our communities on the importance of choosing the right Fuel to Go & Play®,” Hockey WA CEO Fabian Ross says.

“We look forward to staging a wonderful, memorable and engaging Hockey WA Grand Final Day, and giving away lots of fruit and vegies as part of our partnership with Healthway.”

Healthway and Lotterywest CEO Ralph Addis said a remarkable amount of innovation and thought had gone into the day’s event, creating a myriad of avenues to help promote strong health messages to young people across the state.

“It is encouraging to see state sporting associations, such as Hockey WA, setting a great example by creating healthy environments for their members and spectators, he said.

“Educating young people through sport and providing them the opportunity to make better food choices and eat healthily gives them the right kind of energy to bring their A-game.

“Best of luck to the teams involved in this weekend’s event.”
