It's Telethon Hockey Round!
Published Fri 05 Aug 2022
The Western Australian hockey community will unite behind Telethon, the state’s much-loved charity, in a special fundraising round from 8-14 August.
Hockey players, supporters and spectators from across WA will be encouraged to support Telethon and donate through an easy online portal. All funds raised will be donated to Telethon and support the health and wellbeing of children living in WA.
“We are incredibly proud to support Telethon through an official Telethon Hockey Round from 8-14 August across the state,” Hockey WA CEO Fabian Ross says.
“Telethon does such great work improving the lives of kids who face life-threatening diseases and the hockey community will once again rally behind this unbelievable cause.”
Telethon General Manager Mark McCrory said Telethon is grateful that Hockey WA has chosen us as their official community partner and their engagement with the Hockey community to fundraise will further help young West Australian children and their families in need.
Hockey WA will promote the cause and the fundraising online portal in the lead-up to, during and following the Telethon Hockey Round, with funds raised providing valuable assistance to children who need help the most, including through the provision of equipment, critical services and life-changing opportunities for sick, vulnerable and disadvantaged children.

Telethon is in its 55th year and has been the heartbeat of the WA community, connecting and bringing together an entire State for the common purpose of building a better and brighter future for our sick, vulnerable and disadvantaged children.
Established in 1968, Telethon has raised $457million to fund medical research, provide medical equipment for children in hospital, critical services for children with disabilities and life-changing opportunities for the children who need our help the most.
The Telethon point of difference in the Not for Profit sector is that instead of supporting one charitable entity exclusively - in 2021, the $62million raised last year was distributed to 97 different charity beneficiaries and children’s charities.
The 2022 Telethon Weekend will be held at RAC Arena. Broadcasting live for 26-hours from 7pm on Saturday, October 22, through to Sunday, October 23. The Telethon Family Festival is back on the Sunday with lots of fun for the whole family. It will also be held at RAC Arena and along parts of Wellington Street, keeping all aspects of the weekend in one location.
