Hockey for Health Carnival at The Ric Charlesworth Classic
Published Fri 26 Feb 2021
Hockey WA is excited to announce a two-day ‘Hockey for Health Carnival’ for kids across the state.
The Hockey for Health Carnival celebrates the launch Hockey WA's 2021 Hockey for Health partnership with Healthway to promote healthy eating for young Western Australians.
Kids will have the opportunity to hit the turf with the country’s finest hockey players, go one-on-one with current national representatives, and learn from legends in the upcoming Ric Charlesworth Classic.
Kids under-18 will take to main field at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University during the final stages of the Ric Charlesworth Classic, on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 March, alongside current Australian and Perth Thundersticks representatives Aleisha Power, Tyler Lovell, Georgia Wilson and Trent Mitton plus the legendary Ric Charlesworth.
“Hockey WA is incredibly proud to partner with Healthway to deliver a range of benefits to the community,” Hockey WA CEO Fabian Ross said.
“The partnership between Hockey WA and Healthway is a strong one, and we’re very keen to use it to bring even more players to the sport in addition to creating a healthy and supportive environment for players across the state.
“We’re very excited about the Ric Charlesworth Classic and the Hockey for Health Carnival and we can’t wait to see plenty of young faces enjoying their chance of a lifetime.”
The Hockey for Health Carnival will also feature a range of other activities including running races and team relays, ensuring two days of active participation across the final weekend of the Ric Charlesworth Classic, with attendees able to attend either or both sessions.
The Hockey for Health Carnival will commence before each day’s Ric Charlesworth Classic action across the final weekend, with further activities scheduled at half time of each match including prizes and healthy half time snacks.
Entry into the kids-only activity is free. Interested juniors are encouraged to pre-register – with online booking windows open now until Friday 12 March – or until allocation is exhausted.
Entry into the final weekend of the Ric Charlesworth Classic, including the Hockey for Health Carnival, is free for kids under 18. Adult entry into the final weekend of the Ric Charlesworth Classic is $10/adult, with 50% of net proceeds returning to each attendee’s club of choice.
