Hockey great Trid Woodhouse joins Hockey WA

Published Tue 31 Jan 2023

A lifetime of hockey experience will provide an added boost to the sport in WA, with Western Australian hockey legend Trid Woodhouse announced as the new Hockey WA Performance and Pathway Manager.

The five-time premiership player for the University of Western Australia Hockey Club brings a wealth of experience – on and off the field - to the Hockey WA fold, as a former Kookaburra, Perth Thunderstick and high-level coach.

Woodhouse joins Hockey WA in an exciting phase for the sport in the state.

“I am extremely excited but also nervous at the same time as this is something I have been working hard towards for the past 10 or so years,” Woodhouse said.

“I am really looking forward to being able to bring further opportunities to our players, coaches and officials and help grow the game in WA off the back of a successful period for hockey in the state.

“To be a part of a team environment again that works together for the better of hockey out west is a great sense of achievement for myself.

“WA is passionate about hockey and over the past few years Hockey WA has created some solid foundations, providing plenty of opportunities for our hockey community.

“Joining this great team, I can only hope I can help them increase that exposure and continue the success they have created.”

With a CV that stacks up with the best, Woodhouse’s passion for the sport is a standout quality.

“We are really excited to welcome Trid with open arms to the Hockey WA family,” Hockey WA General Manager Game and Community Development Shayley McGurk Davy said.

“Not only does Trid have a remarkable amount of experience suited for the role, his passion and drive for the sport will be a huge benefit to hockey in WA and we can’t wait to see this translate to success on and off the field.”
