Published Tue 02 Mar 2021

Hockey in Western Australia will reach more people than ever before thanks to a partnership between Hockey WA and The West Australian.

Hockey WA and The West Australian have inked an agreement which will see the sport covered like never before across a range of Seven West Media assets including in The West Australian, PerthNow, Community News, TheWest.com.au and on The West’s streaming platforms.

A key component of the agreement sees The West provided exclusive streaming rights to the men’s and women’s Ric Charlesworth Classic, starting on Friday 5 March, in addition to branding on sleeves of player uniforms.

“We’re delighted to partner with The West and bring hockey to a huge audience across the state through the power of The West and Seven West Media,” Hockey WA’s General Manager – Commercial Operations and Marketing Nicholas Janzen says.

“Hockey has an incredibly passionate and significant supporter base and we’re confident this increased level of exposure will engage, entertain and excite fans, in addition to taking the sport to new audiences.”

The West Australian’s Sports Editor Nick Rynne: “The West Australian has a long history of supporting sport in Western Australia and we are thrilled to be able to partner with Hockey WA to exclusively stream the Ric Charlesworth Classic and the All Stars Challenge.

“The West Australian’s print and digital platforms reach 77% of Western Australians each month* and we are excited to be able to assist Hockey WA in growing participation and awareness in the WA community”.

The Ric Charlesworth Classic, played across six days of action from 5-14 March at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University, will be streamed in entirety for digital subscribers on TheWest.com.au.

The Hockey WA community can access at 30% discount to The West's subscription via http://subscriber.thewest.com.au/hockeywa
