Hockey WA COVID-19 Update I Proof-of-vaccination at hockey venues

Published Tue 01 Feb 2022

Hockey WA is working with all of the relevant government agencies to determine how access to all hockey venues (turf and grass venues) can be managed. On Monday 31 January, communication was circulated to all club Presidents regarding our expectations regarding 'Proof of Vaccination' requirements.

The directions provided are constantly changing; we are, however, confident that with the exemption of Community Sport from ‘Proof of Vaccination’  requirements, the relevant agencies are seeking to:

  • Consider the value of activity as a benefit to the well-being of the community
  • Ensure the process is as logical and straightforward as possible.

Initial advice indicated that Perth Hockey Stadium might be treated differently from other venues due to liquor license requirements. However, the following advice has now been provided to suggest the following:

  • Players, coaches and officials can attend all hockey venues to play hockey (regardless of vaccination status)
  • Unvaccinated participants must leave a venue immediately following games and cannot enter the clubhouse venue or consume food and beverage at the site.
  • Vaccinated individuals can provide ‘Proof of Vaccination’ (through the nominated process at a venue) and be served food and beverage.

Venues are will be required to monitor patron movement; it will be imperative that those who are not vaccinated do not remain within any venue longer than necessary. Hockey WA is working on a COVID plan for venues that can be adopted (in part) across all venues. This information will be circulated to club Presidents and Venue Managers.

Any inquiries regarding venue COVID plans can be directed to Graeme Hall, General Manager Business Operations on 0466 381 464.
