Hockey WA launches Community Coach Developer program for 2025

Hockey WA, in partnership with Hockey Australia, is thrilled to introduce an exciting new initiative - the Community Coach Developer program.

This program aims to enhance the delivery of grassroots hockey through mentorship, coach education, and parental engagement.

Expressions of Interest are now open for individuals eager to become Community Coach Developers in 2025.

Led by Hockey Australia and supported by Hockey WA, the Community Coach Developer program is designed to elevate the quality of Hookin2Hockey across Western Australia.

By equipping coaches and coordinators with essential skills, the program ensures a consistent and enriching experience for young particpants.

Through hands-on guidance and structured support, this initiative will create clear pathways from Hookin2Hockey into club-level participation.

Hockey Australia has inviested in this initiative to:

  • Provide upskilling opportunities for coaches, ensuring high-quality program delivery across Hookin2Hockey centres
  • Offer hands-on mentorship to new and existing Hookin2Hockey coordinators
  • Increase parental involvement to enrich the hockey experience for young players
  • Support a structured transition from Hookin2Hockey into club hockey

As a Community Coach Developer, individuals will play a vital role in shaping the future of grassroots hockey.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting induction sessions for new Hookin2Hockey coordinators
  • Providing mentorship and guidance through various visits to Hookin2Hockey centres
  • Promoting and organising Parent Information Sessions with Hookin2Hockey centres
  • Assisting Hockey WA with the delivery of the 2025 Fuel to Go & Play Hookin2Hockey Carnival

This initiative is a fantastic opportunity for passionate hockey enthusiasts looking to make a difference at the grassroots level.

By mentoring coaches and fostering stronger club engagement, Community Coach Developers will contribute significantly to the growth of the sport.
