Hockey WA's Shayley McGurk-Davy named WA's Sports Administrator of the Year

Hockey WA is thrilled to congratulate our General Manager of Game Development & Operations, Shayley McGurk-Davy, on winning the Department of Local Government, Sport & Cultural Industries Sport Administrator of the Year at the WA Sport Awards, presented by SportWest on Thursday night.

A dedicated and influential figure in the WA hockey community, Shayley has been instrumental in shaping and enhancing the sport at all levels - from grassroots participation to elite competition.

Her unwavering commitment to growing the game has made a significant impact on hockey across Western Australia.

One of Shayley's key contributions has been her leadership in health-focused initiatives within the sport.

She played a pivotal role in the development of the Hockey for Health website, providing valuable resources to support player well-being, and played a pivotal role in the transformation of the Fuel to Go & Play Café at Perth Hockey Stadium, ensuring that healthier meal options are available for players, officials, and fans.

Looking ahead, Shayley is leading the Club Strategy Project, set to launch in 2025.

This initiative aims to empower clubs with tailored support and strategic guidance to ensure their long-term sustainability, further reinforcing her commitment to strengthening hockey at all levels.

Hockey WA CEO Fabian Ross, speaking on behalf of himself and the Hockey WA Board, commended Shayley's ongoing contribution to hockey in WA and her outstanding achievement.

"Shayley's passion for hockey and her unwavering commitment to its growth have been truly exceptional," he said.

"She has played a crucial role in shaping the future of the game in WA, driving initiatives that strengthen clubs, enhance player well-being, and ensure long-term sustainability.

"Her impact goes far beyond administration and this award is a testament to her hard work, leadership, and vision.

"We couldn't be prouder to have her as part of Hockey WA.
