Another exciting weekend of Hockey WA’s Indoor Hockey Competitions has concluded after multiple stunning displays.
With finals looming next week for the Juniors competition, the Melville U18 girls looked to stamp their authority on the competition once again, with a dominating 10-2 win over YM Red reinforcing their position at the top of the girls competition table.
Melville’s Saysha Pillay put on a clinic; scoring five of the teams’ ten goals, leading the side to a convincing win.
Unlike the Girls competition, the Under-18s boys has remained neck-and-neck at the top of the table, with YMCC Red, YMCC Green and WASPs Green tied on 12 points each.
YMCC Green showed fantastic teamwork this round, with a strong outing by Tom Keating and Cameron Pell contributing to a dominating win over Melville.
An 8-0 score from YMCC Green against a much younger and less experienced Melville was led by Brayden Fernandes, who contributed six goals to the tally, giving YMCC Green momentum going in to the back-end of the season.
In the Seniors competition, Melville Division 1 men stunned the competition, pushing a dominant Fremantle Cockburn side out of their top spot on the table, with a 7-2 win over the league leaders.
Being a rematch of the Club Championships final between these two sides meant that efforts from both were very physical, with Melville being the side to come out on top this time round.
Melville’s dominance was assisted by sensational goal keeping by Dom Cain, with the superb skills of James Day, Ross Hall, Ryan Pace and Mitchell Pace leading the way.
