Indoor opportunities aplenty
Published Fri 26 Aug 2022
There are plenty of wonderful opportunities for Western Australian, national and international indoor hockey players later this year with two new tournaments and the regular-season competition due to take place later in 2022.
Hockey WA recently announced the launch of the Hockey WA Indoor Classic, proudly supported by the Shire of Northam, along with Hockey WA’s International Indoor Challenge, to be run in Mundaring. The Indoor Classic will be run in a similar fashion to the highly successful outdoor Ric Charlesworth Classic, with the International Indoor Challenge providing elite-level opportunities for top-quality players across the country and around the world.
These opportunities complement Hockey WA’s indoor season starting on 14 October and running through to mid-December. If you are interested in playing in the Hockey WA Indoor season, speak to your relevant club person about nominating a team.
Nominations are also open for Metro Clubs and Regional Associations to register their teams for the Junior Indoor Club Championships taking place from 4 October – 6 October at Mundaring Arena.
If you are interested in playing for your club or association at the Junior Indoor Club Championships, please speak to your club or association about nominating a team.
Hockey WA’s General Manager – Performance and Development, Dean Evans, says the increasing indoor opportunities are great for the game.
“We are delighted to provide opportunities for indoor players at all levels and, with the support of our partners, players can participate in the Hockey WA Indoor Classic free of charge,” Evans says.
“The Hockey WA Indoor Classic, proudly supported by the Shire of Northam, and Hockey WA’s International Indoor Challenge will provide wonderful opportunities for elite-level and emerging players.
“These competitions work well alongside our regular season indoor competition.
“There are a range of great opportunities for indoor players across WA, interstate and overseas and we look forward to engaging those players in 2022 and in the years ahead.”
