Legendary coaches to mentor the next generation - anywhere, anytime

Hockey WA’s newest initiative – the Coach n Play website – takes hockey coaching from legendary figures to the next generation of players anywhere, anytime. Coach n Play is a learning-based tool, using video as the primary medium of information and provides coaches and players across the state a world-class hockey resource. 

The Coach n Play website is an online platform which acts as a library full of hockey drills and demonstrations to assist players, coaches and teams to strive to be the best they can, improving the strength of hockey and hockey coaching in Western Australia. 

Hockey WA General Manager of Talent Development and Asian Engagement, Dean Evans, says the Coach n Play website, the brainchild of FIH Master Coach and Hockey WA Hall of Fame member Terry Walsh, will be a valuable asset to all Hockey WA members. 

“The Coach n Play website is an amazing platform for all hockey coaches and players within our state,” Evans says. 

“To have Olympic-standard coaching techniques and drills readily at their disposal is a significant achievement and it will enable the development of hockey in this state to grow substantially.” 

Walsh has used his coaching experience with the Kookaburras, Netherlands, Indian, USA and Malaysian National Teams over the past 30 years to produce the ground-breaking resource.  

Originally from the famous goldfields town of Kalgoorlie, Walsh retains a keen passion for hockey development in Regional and Metro WA and will continue to work closely with the Hockey WA coaches to deliver instruction seminars to members. 

Dean Evans says Walsh’s commitment to this 18 month project has been an invaluable service to hockey in the state. 

“Terry Walsh’s ability to provide such resources to coaches in WA is a milestone achievement,” Evans says. 

“We can’t thank him enough for his efforts; I’m sure coaches and players across the state will enjoy having Terry Walsh and Hockey WA Coaches as their personal coaching assistants.”
