An action-packed double-header between the WASPs and Westside Wolves men’s and women’s sides at Lemnos Field kicked-off a massive round of All Flags Premier League action.
A thrilling contest in the men’s match saw WASPs snatch the victory of Wolves in the final minutes of the match; Wolves managed to gain a 2-1 lead over the side but goals to Paul Robertson and Jayme Walsh in the 48th and 52nd minutes respectively secured the win for WASPs.
In the women’s match, it was Wolves who dominated, defeating WASPs 4-0 in a strong performance by the side.
Wolves and Perth Thundersticks squad member Candyce Peacock starred with the final two goals of the match.
Whitford put in a massive effort against Hale in the men’s competition but still remain winless after a narrow 3-2 loss to the side.
Hale’s Liam Flynn continues to add to his goals tally for the season, scoring two in the match to bring his total goals this year to 12.
A double-header between the men’s and women’s Curtin University and Melville sides saw Melville claim 5-1 and 4-1 drubbings in wet conditions at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University.
Meanwhile at Lemnos Field, Suburban Lions pulled off the upset of the round, defeating equal first-placed Hale 3-2 in a thrilling contest.
After going up 2-1, the victory was snatched from Hale through goals to Claire Messent and Georgina Dowd, which sees the Lions now climb to seventh on the table.
The race for the pole position on the table is heating up further, with first-placed Vic Park only securing a 0-0 draw against UWA in a toughly-fought contest.
