Lions remain team to beat with Hale hot on their heels

Suburban Lions remain the team to beat in the women’s competition, claiming a last-minute thriller over Victoria Park at Lemnos Field.
Lions ran away with a 3-2 victory in the tight contest, with a Meg McCaffrey goal the difference in the final moments of the match.
A James Day hat-trick led Melville to a significant 7-2 win over Curtin University in the men’s competition.
Curtin University were bolstered by the additions of Kookaburras Ky Willott and Dylan Martin, who both scored for the side, but Melville’s attacking prowess proved to be too strong.
The women’s Curtin University side also suffered defeat at the hands of North Coast Raiders.
Raiders’ Robin Walsh scored a hat-trick to help lead her side to a solid 8-1 win at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University.
Old Guildfordians Mundaring claimed a big win over Fremantle Cockburn in a hot contest that saw 11 goals scored for the match.
In the 6-5 victory for Old Guildfordians, Chris Ciriello and Harrison Banyard both scored two, while the Magpies’ Jack Welch scored three to keep his side in the contest until the final moments of the match.
The men’s and women’s UWA and Whitford sides competed in a double-header at UWA Superturf, with UWA claiming a win in both contests.
The women’s UWA side were dominant in a 7-0 victory, with Neasa Flynn scoring two.
The men’s match resulted in a tight contest, with UWA the eventual 5-3 winners.
Xavier Yem scored two for UWA, while Whitford’s Fraser Heigh continued his red-hot form, scoring a hat-trick to take his tally to 13 for the season.
YMCC claimed their fourth win of the season, defeating Victoria Park 3-2 to sit fourth on the men’s ladder.
YMCC’s Hamish Adamson scored two to lead his side to a win, while Victoria Park’s Daine Richards performed valiantly with two of his own.
Reds and Westside Wolves competed in a double-header, with differing results in both contests.
Reds secured a closely fought 3-2 win over Wolves in the men’s contest; while in the women’s match, Wolves were 3-0 winners in a strong showing.
The men’s and women’s Hale and WASPs sides competed in a double-header at Hale’s home turf, with the home club winning both contests.
The men’s Hale side continued their hot form in a 5-1 win, with Liam Flynn and Sam McCulloch both scoring two; while in the women’s match, Hale were 2-1 winners.
