Minor premierships to be decided in this weekend's All Flags Premier League battles
Published Wed 25 Aug 2021
Both the men's and women's All Flags Premier League minor premierships will be decided by this weekend's matches, as the final home-and-away matches are played for the 2021 season.
In the men's competition, a win for any of the top four sides could mean taking the lead, however a first-versus-fourth playoff between Melville and Victoria Park will possibly see a shake up in the order of the top sides.
If Melville wins, they'll be secured the minor premiership, however a loss for the ladder leaders means the title is up for grabs between Reds, Vic Park and UWA.
In the women's competition, an in-form Westside Wolves will look to jump ahead of Vic Park in the standings for the first time this season, the side coming off a huge 6-1 win over fourth-placed Hale last weekend.
Wolves will clash with North Coast Raiders on Sunday afternoon, relying on a Victoria Park loss when the side takes on Melville earlier in the weekend.
Saturday afternoon a club stalwart will be recognised, with Fremantle Cockburn's Darryl McCormick set to reach his 400th Premier League game when the side clashes against YMCC.
Reds and Guildford will have special days of their own, both sides choosing to celebrate their rescheduled Indigenous Round celebrations, which COVID restrictions and a lack of spectators pushed back.
On Friday evening, a battle of the universities double-header will open the weekend's action, with Curtin University hosting University of WA in both the men's and women's All Flags Premier League competitions.
Saturday in the women's league, YMCC will host Lions at Lemnos Field, followed by Sunday action between seventh-placed WASPs and fourth-placed Hale, and the same match up in the men's All Flags Premier League later in the day.
