The Board of Hockey WA is delighted to announce the appointment of Fabian Ross as its Chief Executive Officer.

Ross is a senior corporate executive possessing vast experience, with a particularly strong financial, commercial and operational background. In his most recent role, Ross served as CEO of WA Super, the largest not-for-profit, public-offer superannuation fund in WA, overseeing $1.2b growth in total managed funds, the acquisition of 20,000 new members and the launch of a new strategic model which steered the business through a challenging transition period. Prior to starting at WA Super, Ross held a number of senior leadership roles at BT Financial Group, Government Employees Superannuation Board, St Andrew’s Australia and the Commonwealth Bank.

“We’re delighted to announce Fabian’s appointment as CEO of Hockey WA,” President Michael Henderson said.

“Fabian is an incredibly high-quality individual whose business success speaks for itself. He has a phenomenal record and has consistently delivered value for stakeholders in the business world over a sustained period of time.

“The Board believes Fabian is a perfect fit for Hockey WA’s exponential growth plans. His involvement will raise the bar for the benefit of our members, players, supporters and other stakeholders across the state and internationally.”

Ross, a Life Member of Whitford Hockey Club, said he was delighted to be offered the role.

“I’m incredibly excited to be appointed as the CEO of Hockey WA,” Ross said.

“I’ve enjoyed my 20-plus years in the corporate sector and now I want to give back to the community.

“Hockey has been in my family for all my life and both my kids’ lives.

“Hockey has such a bright future in this state and internationally, focused out of WA, so I look forward to continuing to grow its footprint in the local community and to increase our profile in the global market.”

Fabian Ross commences as Hockey WA’s new CEO on Monday, 15 February.
