Old Guildfordians Mundaring shock finals-bound Victoria Park in 7-3 victory

The penultimate round of Premier League action produced a plethora of thrilling results, highlighted by a significant win by Old Guildfordians Mundaring Hockey Club in their clash against Victoria Park.
The 10th place Old Guildfordians Mundaring side shocked fourth place Victoria Park in the men’s competition, with securing a dominant 7-3 victory heading into the final round of the season.
Old Guildfordians mundaring’s Chris Ciriello and Brodie Hiskins scored two in the victory, while Corey Weyer, Craig Marais and Sebastian Chandraratna also found goal – goalkeeper Hunter Banyard restricted the finals-bound Victoria Park side to claim the four-goal victory.
Melville and Fremantle Cockburn also claimed dominant victories this round, defeating Curtin and WASPs 7-0 and 6-0 respectively – Melville’s James Day had a day out, scoring off four penalty corners in his side’s victory.
In other results in the men’s competition, third place Reds narrowly defeated second place Hale in a thrilling clash at the top of the standings, while UWA defeated YMCC 5-2, and Whitford performed well in a 1-1 draw with Westside Wolves.
In the women’s Premier League, Hale and Westside Wolves continue to sit first and second on the standings on equal points and goal difference.
Hale showcased their strength heading into a crucial finals series with a 5-0 win over Reds. Their star leader Line Malan shined with four goals to her name.
Westside Wolves also claimed a strong victory, taking out Suburban Lion 4-1 to continue their hot form heading into the back end of the season.
In other women’s results, Curtin claimed a 2-3 victory over Melville in a thrilling clash through a last-minute goal to Sarah Byrnes, UWA narrowly defeated WASPs 1-0 and Victoria Park secured a dominant 5-1 victory over North Coast Raiders.
