Published Sun 26 Nov 2023

The OMSB Youth International Gryphon Cup has come to a thrilling conclusion with Japan and Malaysian Sports School taking home the girls and boys competition crowns on a stunning 2023 finals day.

In a hot contest in the girls gold medal match, Japan narrowly claimed the top gong over the Stars in a tense 1-0 victory.

Both sides went into half-time at a 0-0 deadlock but a lone score to Miyu Fukuda fresh after the main break in the 21st minute proved to be the difference in the clash.

The two sides produced two of the best clashes for the competition, with the Stars winning the first encounter 2-1, with the result falling in Japan's favour in the final clash of the competition.

The Grand Final hero in Miyu Fukuda received the Player of the Finals award for her efforts in securing the victory for the travellers.

In the boys competition, the dominant Malaysian Sports School defeated Ciriello Coaching Academy 3-0 to take home this year's gold medal.

Safwan Salihe (13'), Dheeressh Gunaseelan (16') and Saiful Baddruddin (32') all scored for the side in the gold medal match, taking the side's goal tally to 39 for the competition with zero goals conceeded in a phenomenal effort for the visitors.

Malaysian Sports School's Aferall Azuan claimed the Player of the Finals award for his efforts in leading his side to victory.
