Pahang teams to visit Western Australia

Pahang's rising hockey stars are set to bring international competition to Perth this week as they gear up for a tour of Perth.
Teams from the Malaysian state of Pahang will be touching down in Perth this week for a series of friendly matches against Western Australia's local hockey talent.
The matches will serve as an opportunity for various Western Australian players to test themselves against an international side.
The Pahang Under-21 Women’s team will begin their tour with a match against Melville’s Stiles Electrical Premier League Women’s team at Melville Toyota Stadium on Thursday 4 July, while the Pahang Under-21 Men’s team will go up against Fremantle Cockburn’s Stiles Electrical Premier League Men’s team at Lakelands Hockey & Sporting Facility.
The following evening, Rockingham Redbacks will host the Pahang teams at the Sportsplex Parkway in Port Kennedy.
Following those two matches, both Pahang Under-21 squads will engage in a two-match series against the WA Country Men’s and Women’s squads at Perth Hockey Stadium from Saturday 6 July to Sunday 7 July.
For the WA Country squads, the matches will bolster their preparations for the 2024 Hockey Australia Country Championships, taking place in August.
Hockey WA General Manager of Asian Engagement & Special Projects Graham Reid said he was thrilled to see the Pahang Under-21 hockey teams embarking on their tour of Perth.
“This marks an exciting milestone in cultural exchange through sports,” he said.
“These friendly matches not only provide a platform for our talented athletes to showcase their skills but also foster camaraderie and mutual learning between Malaysian and Australian hockey communities.
“Such initiatives play a crucial role in strengthening ties and promoting sports diplomacy between our nations.”
