Perth Thundersticks Men’s team to play Intra-Squad match at Melville Toyota Stadium
Published Thu 21 Nov 2024
The Perth Thundersticks may have a scheduled bye as the 2024 Liberty Hockey One enters its final round of the regular season, but the Men’s team will be looking to gear up their finals preparations.
The Men’s team will be competing in an intra-club match at Melville Toyota Stadium on the evening of Friday 22 November from 6.15pm.
The match will act as an opportunity for the squad to continue preparations and maintain form before travelling to Hobart to compete in the Liberty Hockey One finals.
Men’s team Head Coach Stephen Davies said the match will help them prepare just as they would if they had a fixtured match this weekend.
“We’re hoping to have close to a full squad to select from [for the finals],” he said.
“The first part of the equation was to make sure we gave ourselves the best chance to qualify for the finals.
“We’ve done that, so we feel great about that but it’s only one part of the process.
“Once you get in there, we’re here to win it.”
Supporters are welcome to come down to Melville Toyota Stadium to watch the match as their final opportunity to watch them in action in WA for the season.
Patrons will also have the opportunity to gain insight into the team processes with spectators allowed onto the turf during breaks.
A sausage sizzle will be open for patrons, as well as the stadium’s bar and canteen facilities.
The Perth Thundersticks Men’s team became the first men’s team, and the second team overall behind the Perth Thundersticks Women’s team, to qualify for the finals after defeating NSW Pride 3-1 back in Round 5.
As the Thundersticks go into this weekend with a bye, they will await the final standings for the regular season to find out their Semi Final opponents.
