Swapping red for pink in breast cancer awareness round

Published Thu 19 Aug 2021

This weekend Reds Hockey Club will align with the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) to host a Pink Sports Day, swapping their traditional red and black socks for pink, across both men's and women's teams.

The aim of the round is to fundraise and assist the BCNA to inform, support, connect and represent all Australians that have been affected by breast cancer.

Majority of the club's teams from a junior level, through to seniors and masters, will play their respective matches in pink socks, to show their support to a cause close to so many.

As well as teams donning the pink on the day, this Saturday at Aquinas Turf there will be donation tins, a presentation, and a special pink bake sale for all to get involved.

The club's fundraising page can be found here, and consists of the following:

"Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian women with one in seven diagnosed in their lifetime.

Over 20,000 women are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year as well as over 170 men.

Your support will help these women, men and families to not go through their journey alone."
