GOLDFIELDS-ESPERANCE

Kalgoorlie

In the A1 women’s competition – the defending Premiers have gone down in an upset, best-on-ground Brooke Capewell’s two-goal performance contributing to the underdog tale.

With a full time scoreline of 3-2, Erin Glasson was the other individual able to find the back of the net.

CBC’s Mia Dellar and Lauren Puckett were able to score in the losing side.

The win came through a penalty stroke score, just after CBC’s goalkeeper Melanie Wood went down with injury.

CBC remains at the same position in the standings – and Norths are now just three seconds behind.

In the other clash in the A1 women’s competition – Pegasus defeated YMHC 2-1.

Norths also had a win in the men’s A1 competition, defeating CBC last weekend.

Chris Souchon was best-on-ground, Connor Hogan and Fynn Moulds also contributing to the one-goal victory.

The match was Norths’ seventh win in a row.

 

GREAT SOUTHERN

Lower Great Southern – Albany

Spencer Park continues to dominate of the Lower Great Southern Hockey Association men’s A Grade season – now with a sixth consecutive victory.

Park was able to defeat Manypeaks, with Charlie Hudson, Andre Gabriel and Mitchell Dolan all scoring in the 3-1 triumph.

North Albany moved into the second place position, with an emphatic win over Vikings in round six on Saturday.

Two goals from Simon Philpott helped the side to victory – helping his side stamp authority on the standings.

In the women’s A Grade competition, North Albany regained its ladder-leading position with a 3-1 win over Mt Barker in Mt Barker.

Spencer Park drew nil-all with Manypeaks – Laura Cinanni the best for Peaks, Jamiee Shannon and Annie Judd amongst Park’s best. 

Upper Great Southern – Narrogin

This weekend everyone is welcome to come down and support the Upper Great Southern Hockey Association & Narrogin and Districts Netball Association ‘I Know What I’d Rather Be Doing - Don’t Drink & Drive’ sporting round.

Mocktails & non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase - food & non-alcoholic drinks will also be provided during the evening for anyone registering for the Skipper Program - registration forms are available at the club rooms.

SOUTH WEST

Bunbury

Anita Scott has joined the ranks of slim players across WA who have played 500 games in their town’s top league.  

Scott is the president of Boyanup Hockey Club in Bunbury – and has a whopping 10 South West Hockey League titles.

Even better – the major milestone was celebrated with a 2-1 victory for her side.

The club stalwart began her career before the South West Hockey League was created in 2001… and won 11 premierships in the former competition as well.
