The stars of the regions battled it out last month to get their hands on some coveted silverware as grand finals took place across WA.
From drought-breakers to dynasties, there were plenty of enticing storylines around the State!
GOLDFIELDS-ESPERANCE
Esperance
An all-time classic shootout has seen Castletown down Rams to win the Esperance Hockey Association Men’s premiership for 2022.
The two sides could not be separated after regulation and extra time with the scores locked at 1-1, taking the match to a 1v1 shootout.
From there, Castletown was able to hold on to an 8-7 victory, with Ross Mumme being named best on ground.
In the women’s, minor premiers Bacchus defeated Furies 5-2, with Emma Scally being named best on ground.
Kalgoorlie
The Eastern Goldfields Hockey Association held their senior grand final day on September 10 with plenty of thrilling matchups taking place.
In the A1 Men’s decider, the third-placed CBC completed the upset of the year when they knocked off the previously undefeated Norths-Wesley.
CBC young gun Zane Soper was awarded best on ground as his side claimed their first premiership since 2015.
In the A1 Women’s decider, Norths-Wesley defeated CBC 2-1 to end their streak of seven straight grand final wins, with Norths’ Brooke Capewell being awarded best on ground.
Meanwhile, in the A2 Men, Norths defeated Pegasus 5-0, while Veterans defeated Norths 3-0 in a shootout in the A2 Women’s game after the scores were locked at 2-2 at the end of regulation time.
GREAT SOUTHERN
Lower Great Southern
The Lower Great Southern Hockey Association’s top grades came to an end on September 17.
In the Retravision Men’s A division, minor premiers Spencer Park were able to knock off Manypeaks, while North Albany beat Mount Barker in the Retravision Women’s A grade.
MID WEST
Geraldton
Rovers upset red-hot favourites Casuals in the Geraldton Hockey Association Men’s A Grade grand final on September 17 to claim the title for 2022.
Casuals finished 17-points clear on top of the ladder to claim the minor premiership but Rovers took the honours on the day with a 3-2 victory, with Casuals Jarrod Jupp earning the Bob Mercer Award for MVP.
In the Women’s A Grade, Cardinals continued their impressive run with a 3-1 victory over Murchison.
Murchison’s Lauren Martin was awarded the Lucy Johnson Memorial Award for MVP but could not get her side across the line against the minor premiers.
SOUTH WEST
Bunbury
Boyanup has gone back to back in the South West Hockey League women’s with a victory over Associates on September 10.
Boyanup’s Jenna Brown was named best on ground as her side upset the minor premiers to win 4-2.
Meanwhile, Marist upset minor premiers Boyanup in a classic men’s grand final to win 5-3, with Marist’s Jordan Hunt being named best on ground.
Busselton
Margaret River claimed the Busselton Hockey Association Men’s premiership for 2022, while Robins have taken out the women’s flag with a 4-1 win over Wests.
WHEATBELT
Narrogin
Wagin claimed the 2022 Sportspower Women’s A Grade premiership with a 2-1 victory over Warriors on September 17.
Meanwhile, minor premiers Warriors took home the 2022 flag with a 2-0 win over Olympics in the Sportspower Men’s A Grade.
