Esperance

Some of WA’s future stars were fortunate to have the expertise of ex-Hockeyroos legend Toni Cronk this week.

Coach workshops, group sessions and individual sessions were just some of the opportunities offered, with the locals greatly benefiting from the knowledge of someone with so much experience.

Toni Cronk expressed her gratitude on her Facebook page, and said she’s off down the road to Kalgoorlie next.

MID WEST

Geraldton

Umpires in Geraldton will be lucky enough to upskill this weekend when they are assessed and briefed for their Level One grading.

Having experienced and fully trained umpires is extremely important, especially in regional areas where the knowledge can be passed on to juniors coming through the umpiring ranks.

SOUTH WEST

Bunbury

A South West Hockey League showdown between top sides Marist and Boyanup went ahead Friday night, with close matches in both the men and the women’s matches.

Starting off the evening, the ladies match saw Marist maintain their winning streak by getting the better of Boyanup 2-1.

The men’s match was a thrilling draw, which saw both teams fight til the end to emerge with one goal apiece.

Registrations are now open for the 2021 South West Junior Hockey Championships, which will take place from Saturday, June 5 until Monday, June 7.

Registrations are open until Saturday, May 8 for school grades five to ten.

WHEATBELT

Eastern Wheatbelt

A successful One Day Sports initiative was launched on Saturday, May 1 and was a fantastic preview of what is to come in the district.

Hockey, football and netball fixtures were all aligned in hopes that participation numbers across the three would increase, a necessary measure for the struggling sports.
