Regions’ best to shine on national stage at Hockey Australia Country Championships

Published Fri 28 Jul 2023

WA’s best regional hockey players will descend upon Shepparton from Saturday 5 August to compete on the national stage for this year’s Hockey Australia Country Championships.

Last year, the men claimed silver, while the women came fifth, with an extensive preparation process this year holding the sides in fantastic shape heading into the week-long competition.

Hockey WA Performance and Pathways Manager, Trid Woodhouse, is proud of both teams desire to prepare to be their best once the competition kicks off this week.

“Both teams have had a fantastic preparation for an extended period this year,” Woodhouse said.

“A lot of work has gone into competition preparation, with matches against Rockingham, the Upper Great Southern President’s XI, as well as several other contests and training sessions really putting both sides in good stead.

“I wish our WA State Country Teams the best of luck for their journey in Shepparton and I am hopeful that they can be rewarded for their efforts with medal placements.”
