Ric Charlesworth Classic 2021 Fixtures
Published Tue 09 Feb 2021
Australia’s best emerging hockey players will come together from Friday, 5 March at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University for the 2021 Ric Charlesworth Classic, fighting for glory and gold medals across 16 matches in one of Australia’s premier hockey competitions.
The 2021 tournament begins with a mouth-watering double-header of 2020 Grand Final rematches on Friday, 5 March.
The women’s Highlanders will seek revenge on the star-studded Outbacks, who proved too strong in the inaugural tournament.
The men’s Outbacks look to replicate the success of their female counterparts this time round, aiming to take down the Suns in the first match of the tournament after their nail-biting loss to the powerhouse side in the Grand Final for 2020.
Breakers fans will enjoy a feast on Monday, 8 March, with a double-header against the Suns and the Highlanders for the women’s and men’s sides respectively.
Thursday, 11 March sees round two wrap-up with a juicy Highlanders double-header against the Breakers for the women’s and the Outbacks for the men’s.
An Olympic-themed festival of hockey will take place across Saturday, 13 March and Sunday, 14 March, with an action-packed line-up determining who will arm-wrestle for the Ric Charlesworth Classic champions crown in the finals.
“The 2021 Ric Charlesworth Classic, played at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University from Friday, 5 March until Sunday, 14 March, is going to be even bigger and better than last year,” Hockey WA General Manager of Talent Development and Asian Engagement Dean Evans says.
“Last year the tournament really captured the hearts, minds and attention of sports fans across the state as well as around the country, and this year the action’s going to be even more exciting.
“There’s going to be entertainment and excitement on and off the pitch… it’s going to be one to remember.”
2021 Ric Charlesworth Classic trade and draft information, squad lists and more to be released in the coming days.
