Selection claims to be made in Men’s Perth Thundersticks Cup

Following input from Premier League and WA State Team coaches, as well as discussions by the Selection Panel on observations made during this year’s Premier League season, the following list of athletes have been identified to take part in two Perth Thundersticks Cup matches this month. 

The Perth Thundersticks Cup will form a vital part of the 2023 Perth Thundersticks squad assessment and selection process, narrowing down an extended list of athletes to a Perth Thundersticks Extended Squad that will be formally announced on 1 August 2023. 

The Perth Thundersticks Cup matches will be held on Wednesday 19 July and Wednesday 26 July at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University. 

Perth Thundersticks men’s head coach Craig Wilson is excited for the selection process ahead. 

“Firstly, I would like to thank all Premier League and State coaches, as well as the selection panel for their engagement, input and support of the players in the formative stage of this selection process,” Wilson said. 

“We are now looking forward to competitive gameplay that puts these athletes in a high-intensity environment and gives each of them an opportunity to perform at their best. 

“The message to the players is to make our selection job hard and we have our eyes open for a selection surprise.”
