Stage set for must-win clashes in WA’s premier competitions

Published Fri 02 Sep 2022

It’s do-or-die time across the Premier League and Premier Divisions Two and Three this weekend with a thrilling finals series set commence from Saturday 3 September at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University, featuring the top sides in Western Australian hockey.

All four matches of the first round of men’s and women’s Premier League finals will be held back-to-back on Sunday, with sides bolstered by the addition of key Hockeyroos and Kookaburras fresh from Birmingham set to deliver hot contests across the board.

The opening match from 12:30pm will see the women’s Premier League’s top two sides all year in Hale and Westside Wolves compete in a blockbuster clash to determine who takes a clear path straight to the Grand Final.

UWA and Victoria Park will compete in a must-win clash in the women’s Premier League from 2:15pm, with the winner set to take on the loser of Hale’s and Westside Wolves’ clash.

The men’s Premier League finals kick-start from 4pm, with UWA and Victoria Park clashing following their women’s sides’ contest, culminating in Hale and Reds going head-to-head in what’s set to be a hot contest.

All matches in the Premier Divisions Two and Three will also be held at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University across Saturday and Sunday, creating a ‘festival’ of hockey at the venue.

Entry to all fixtures is free, with full bar and canteen services available.
