Men’s

UWA have put in another dominant effort to firm up third place on the Stiles Electrical Premier League ladder with a 4-1 win over Mods-OGM.

UWA and Mods-OGM went head-to-head at the UWA Superturf on Sunday 28 July during Round 18 of competition.

The home side did not take long to establish dominance with two goals via Ladislao Gencarelli and Jaxon Geddes in quick succession.

Mods-OGM, already finding themselves chasing UWA, fought in a bid to stay in the contest but UWA held strong to lead 2-0 at quarter time.

The visiting side continued their chase in the second quarter but UWA would extend their lead even further with a second field goal via Gencarelli to lead 3-0 at the main break.

Although the contest reached a stalemate during the third period, Mods-OGM would finally break their drought early in the fourth quarter with a penalty corner goal via James Naughtin.

UWA would go on to put the exclamation point on their impending victory with a field goal via Jacob Evans sealing the deal at 4-1.

Elsewhere, a hat-trick via Zach Rakkas helped Reds dominate WASPS 7-1, YMCC defeated Whitford 4-0, Melville secured top spot on the ladder with a comprehensive 4-1 win over Victoria Park, Fremantle Cockburn held off North Coast Raiders 2-1, and Westside Wolves held off Hale 2-1.

UWA have continued to strengthen their hold over the competition with a 3-1 victory over Whitford to maintain their reign atop the Stiles Electrical Premier League ladder.

Teams competed in wintry conditions at the UWA Superturfs during Round 18 of competition on Sunday 28 July.

It took UWA just seconds to set the tone of the match, charging through Whitford to score their first goal of the match via Lexie Pickering.

Although Whitford tried to compose themselves and mount the pressure, UWA held strong to lead 1-0 at quarter time.

UWA continued their dominant approach during the second quarter, with Neasa Flynn scoring early in the term to extend their lead to two goals by half time.

Whitford returned from the half time break determined to stifle UWA’s efforts, mounting the pressure during the third quarter.

However, opportunities for the visitors to score were few and far inbetween, with UWA holding on to lead 2-0 at the final change.

While UWA extended their lead even further at the 53rd minute with a goal from Matilda Nelson, Whitford finally broke through for a goal soon after via Rachel Kelly.

When all was said and done, UWA held strong to win 3-1.

Elsewhere, WASPS pulled off an upset 4-2 win over Reds, Victoria Park dominated Melville 5-0, Suburban Lions overcame a slow start to defeat North Coast Raiders 5-2, and Westside Wolves held off Hale 1-0 in a tight contest.
