Tens of thousands prepare for action-packed 2022 hockey season

Hockey WA has unveiled a high-energy, all-inclusive video promotion, featuring action from all levels of the sport, ahead of the 2022 season that will see more than 22,000 players hit turf and grass fields across the state.

Young, old and plenty in between will once again pick up sticks across 2022, with Hockey WA’s promotional campaign paying tribute to all involved in the sport – from grassroots to the elite.

The campaign features highlights and elements from throughout Hockey WA competitions, events, programs and locations, from youth level to seniors, and highlights the involvement of men and women of all ages across the state.

A plethora of hockey participants are featured in the campaign, including players from the clubs across the state and WA Hockey Masters, as well as Hockey WA officials, players from the Perth Thundersticks, Ric Charlesworth Classic and from far afield as the Pilbara.

“We’re incredibly excited to launch our 2022 participation campaign and look forward to seeing the Western Australian hockey community unite behind it,” Hockey WA General Manager Commercial Operations, Marketing and Media, Nicholas Janzen, says.

“We’re really proud of the engagement and participation our sport achieves, with 50,000 participants and almost 22,000 registered members in 2021, in addition to more than 300,000 users to our website and 6.6 million page views… and we boldly seek to boost all of this even further in 2022 and beyond.

“This campaign, we hope, will help achieve this in addition to capturing the hearts and minds of the next generation of hockey players at all ages.”

Hockey WA General Manager Game and Community Development, Shayley McGurk Davy, says the sport is one for all – and this year should be one for the history books.

“We can’t wait for the 2022 season to start and look forward to seeing the sport thrive in 2022 and the years ahead,” McGurk-Davy says.

“Whatever your background, physical condition or gender, hockey is the sport for you.

“The 2022 season has lots of excitement, from the grassroots to the elite – there’s plenty to look forward to, whether you’re young or old, from the bush or the beach.”
