Thundersticks squad set to face Stingers revealed

Published Wed 27 Jul 2022

The Perth Thundersticks men’s squad set to face the NT Stingers on Thursday 28 July at Bateau Turf Lakelands has been revealed, with Kookaburras, Premier League stars and elite-level junior talent forming the nucleus of a talented squad set to shine in front of the WA hockey faithful.

The one-off match will give the Thundersticks an opportunity to compete in high-level competition play ahead of the season, with the Stingers building towards a return to the national stage since last competing in the now defunct AHL in 2018. The Stingers squad will host NT under-21s athletes and identified local players in the Darwin Hockey League.

Headlining the Thundersticks squad is Kookaburras’ James Collins, as well as former Kookaburra and Thundersticks star Trent Mitton, who returns to WA after starring for AH & BC Heren 1 in Europe.

As part of Hockey WA’s Breast Cancer Care Round, the match will be played in support of Purple Bra Day – with voluntary donations on entry supporting breast cancer care nursing, counselling, and financial support to women and men affected by breast cancer, as well as their partners and families, throughout the WA community.

The match will also be streamed - LIVE and FREE - on Live Hockey!
