Under-18 Emerging Thundersticks Program continues in February as preparation for State Team selection
Published Fri 31 Jan 2025
The Under-18 Emerging Thundersticks (ETP) is set to resume in February, following a series of training sessions in January, offering a series of short, high-intensity training sessions designed to prepare athletes for the upcoming season.
These sessions will specifically support players in the Under-18 age bracket who are aiming to trial for selection in the 2025 WA State Under-18 Men's and Women's teams.
The State team selection trials will take place over the weekend of Saturday 12 and 13 April at Perth Hockey Stadium. Athletes selected from these trials will go on to represent Western Australia at the 2025 Hockey Australia Under-18 National Championships, which will also be held in Perth from Friday 4 to Sunday 12 July.
To best prepare players for these trials, the ETP training sessions will run across four (4) consecutive Fridays in February at Perth Hockey Stadium. These sessions will closely mirror the structure of Hockey Australia's National Junior Program, providing young athletes with a high-performance training environment similar to what is delivered to 'futures' athletes nationwide.
This initiative is a crucial step in developing emerging talent and ensuring WA's young hockey players are well-equipped to compete at the highest level.
