Uniting in Purple: Breast Cancer Care Returns for 2024

Published Thu 18 Jul 2024

The Hockey WA Breast Cancer Care Awareness Round returns in 2024, uniting the WA hockey community in solidarity with those affected by breast cancer.

Supported passionately by the Midweek Masters community, this initiative aims to raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Care WA and the Purple Bra Day campaign.

To show continued support for those affected by breast cancer, Hockey WA aims to raise $1000, which will be donated to the Purple Bra Day campaign, Breast Cancer Care WA’s largest annual fundraiser held throughout August and September.

Did you know?

- Every day, five Western Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer.

- 1 in 7 women and 1 in 542 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

To help us achieve this goal, we call on clubs and teams to participate by raising funds and wearing purple bras or accessories during matches from Friday 26 July to Thursday 1 August.

Fremantle Cockburn Hockey Club will also host raffles and fundraisers during their Masters fixtures at Lakelands Hockey & Sporting Facility.

During the Stiles Electrical Premier League action on Saturday 27 July, Ellie the Elephant will roam throughout Perth Hockey Stadium to raise awareness about breast cancer and its impact on women’s health.

Join us for an exciting day of matches and wear your best purple bras/accessories to support this important cause. Let’s come together as a community to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer.

Got happy snaps of your teams in purple? Send them to media@hockeywa.org.au and we’ll highlight your fantastic efforts!
