Vale Gordon Getley

Hockey WA is saddened to hear of the passing of WA hockey life member, Gordon Getley.

For more than 40 years, Gordon showcased his commitment as an umpire. He was awarded his state umpiring badge in 1958, he adjudicated State League matches from 1963-1987, accumulating close to 300 State League umpiring appearances and had 13 finals appearances.

On a national level, Gordon adjudicated National Championships from 1971-1982, with six finals appearances. His qualifications evolved to an Australian badge in 1969, an international badge in 1973, and an international grade 1 badge in 1979.

Gordon's international appointments included a New Zealand international tour, pre-Olympic tournament and the Manning Cup Series.

In addition to on-field performance, Gordon was the chairperson of WAHA for six years. 

Gordon is survived by his wife Maxine, his daughter Selina and son Garrath. Hockey WA extends its condolences to Gordon's family at this time.
