WA set for international indoor spectacle

Elite-level indoor hockey will hit Perth, Western Australia, from 23 to 31 October with the inaugural Hockey WA International Indoor Challenge event set to showcase high-level indoor sides from across Australia and the globe.  

Held at the world-class indoor facilities at the Mundaring Arena, the Hockey WA International Indoor Challenge will see indoor sides from Australia and beyond compete in high-level tournament format. 

Hockey WA Head of Asian Engagement, former Kookaburra Chris Ciriello, says the competition is set to deliver an indoor hockey spectacle like no other.  

“We are super excited to deliver the Hockey WA International Indoor Challenge in Perth and provide development opportunities for not only the athletes in our backyard, but athletes from across the world,” Ciriello said. 

“The tournament aims to elevate indoor hockey in Western Australia. 

“Visiting countries will also be afforded the opportunity to experience elite competition surrounding their other international commitments, while also given the opportunity to experience the best that Perth has to offer off the field.” 

Hockey WA CEO, Fabian Ross, is excited by the prospect of Perth showcasing indoor hockey at its best. 

“We are thrilled to be able to provide an opportunity for our home-grown indoor athletes to compete against some of the world’s best,” Ross said. 

“Indoor hockey is a fantastic and crucial format of the game, and it is great to be able to further Hockey WA’s offerings of elite events in this format.  

“We are really excited to welcome teams to Perth and the opportunity for them to experience the sites WA has to offer.”  

Cultural experiences packages are available for interested teams, providing attendees the opportunity to experience the sights of the Perth Metropolitan region - some of the best experiences WA has to offer.
