Australia’s best under-21s talent, featuring six Western Australians, have shined on the World stage as the Burras and Jillaroos starred against New Zealand for the FIH Junior World Cup qualifiers.

WA’s Cam Geddes, Brodee Foster, Hamish Adamson and Max Freedman all donned the green and gold for the Burras in the qualifiers, while Neasa Flynn and Jolie Sertorio starred for the Jillaroos.

With both Australia and New Zealand already qualified for the FIH Junior World Cup, the three-match series provided crucial preparation ahead of both nation’s campaigns next year and delivered hot contests across the board.

The Burras were dominant across the series, securing two wins and one draw, with WA’s stars prominent throughout the series.

WA’s Cam Geddes was the series’ top goal scorer, converting five penalty corner attempts, with Brodee Foster also scoring two for the series.

The Burras opened the series with a 4-2 win, an exciting 4-4 draw, and then rounded out the series with a 5-1 victory, with Geddes securing a hat-trick in the final match.

For the Jillaroos, Neasa Flynn scored in the Jillaroos’ final match in a 3-0 victory, with the previous two results a 2-2 draw and 4-2 victory.

Jolie Sertorio captained the side and was a stalwart in defence and across the midfield, showcasing her leadership that led WA to a silver medal placement in this year’s Hockey Australia Under-21s National Championships.
