The Under 21 Indoor National Championships concluded over the weekend in Wollongong, with both the Men’s and Women’s Western Australian teams securing Medal finishes.

The Men’s team performed outstandingly, securing the nod for Gold Medal, after a 5-4 win over New South Wales. This comes after an unbeaten run in the Championships, showcasing the strength and talent of our young Western Australian players.

Our very own Ryan Pace secured the nod for Player of the Tournament and Top Goal Scorer in the Championships with brilliant play and scoring 17 goals, a massive effort, with the next best being 11 goals.

Our Women’s team also secured a Medal placing, claiming the Bronze Medal after a 3-2 win over ACT. After an up and down tournament, the girls performed excellently when it mattered most, showing dominance in the Bronze Medal Final, with a penalty stroke save from Lou-Ellen Edwards keeping them in the game. Kira-Lee Gmeiner and Tallulah Gouldthorp led the scoring for the tournament with 4 goals apiece.

We’d like to congratulate both our U21 teams on their efforts and their outstanding performances in their respective tournaments.

We now look forward to the U18 Championships, commencing today in Wollongong.
